18 / 52 : “Looking Forward”

This self portrait is one of hope and future. With everything that goes on in life, sometimes its hard not to feel weighed down – just surviving day to day. I have to remember that all experiences help me to grow, learn and be a better person – even experiences I do not particularly enjoy or want to happen. I can see how past experiences have changed me for the better even though they were hard to go through. It is good to look back, but not for too long. Do not dwell on the past, just learn from it.

I have hope and excitement for the future. Even a future that seems impossible or one that I cannot completely map out. Optimism. It is exciting to believe that there are bigger things ahead – and I truly believe that for our family. I have faith that God is looking out for us and our future.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

One of my favorite quotes: “Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors, and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.” Walt Disney

  1. Beautiful. I really like the shot and what you said. We’re doing a self-portrait photography challenge this month at our site. If you are a match for our gallery (some connection to mental health issues, self or others, or feel for the cause) we would love a submission from you of this and/or others. Let me know. D.
