Wednesday’s Word #12

“Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!
Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.”
Frances J. Crosby 1873

My word for the week:

“FORETASTE”

noun: a slight and partial experience, knowledge or taste of something to come in the future; anticipation (dictionary.com)

synonyms: foreseeing, forethought, inkling, intuition, preconception, premonition, prevision, realization (thesaurus.com)

This has been a different kind of week. There have been low points and high points. Something that I have noticed however is this strange feeling of a foretaste of what is to come. An “inkling” of hope for things in our family and those around me. In the dark, or the valley, God is always there to give us a glimmer of what’s to come on top of the hill – especially when we need it the most and the hill seems VERY far away or impossible to reach.

Bad news & good news – but through it all a “realization” that God is totally in control and sometimes allows us to “foresee”…even if it is a small vision…the possibilities of His goodness and greatness to come. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28

If you are in a valley and the hilltop seems too far to reach, pray for that glimmer, that “foretaste” of what God has for you. Trust in Him, He has your BEST in mind.
