Fall on Virginia Roads

There is something so serene about driving around our little spot of Virginia in the fall. This is the first year that we are experiencing how truly beautiful it is up here. I had to take an early morning drive this morning and snapped a few pictures (safely) of how gorgeous the leaves are becoming… (sorry about the quality – cell phone)

The sunrise was peeking through the trees making the colors brilliant and bright. Amazing. I have always loved this idea of driving through a tunnel of trees that surround and cross over the roads while the leaves swirl around your car. That whimsical wish actually happens up here. There are so many breathtaking scenes that go by your window as you drive around up here. Some of my favorites: houses nestled amid the orange, red and yellow leaves on the side of a blue lake, fire orange trees lining walkways and shopping centers, the roads shaded with multi-colored leaf canopies, seeing the warm leaves all around Colonial Williamsburg – it definitely calms the spirit and makes me thankful to have the opportunity to live in this wonderful place.

The leaves are now collecting into windswept piles in our backyard. The kids and the cats have a lot of fun watching them blow around the windows. It is so refreshing to see the warm colors of autumn and feel the crisp, cold breezes that bring us toward the holidays.
